Abstract
Sperm DNA damage has been identified as a major contributor to male infertility and to poor outcomes of assisted reproduction treatment. In the current project Norwegian SME Norgenotech AS teams up with end-user Copenhagen Fertility Center in Denmark to build a novel, high capacity diagnostic robot for male fertility assessment. To achieve this goal, we will robotise the existing DNA damage assessment technology, the comet assay, by miniaturising the steps and by integrating them into a compact platform able to carry out testing of patients’ material automatically. So far the automated comet assay has not been used in healthcare. We expect that reproductive clinics worldwide dealing with male fertility assessment will be interested in our equipment and consumables.
