Péter Fürjes received an MSc in Engineering Physics in 1999, MBA in 2002 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2004 from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). He has been working in the field of silicon micromechanics and sensor technology for Tateyama Kagaku Ind. Co. (Toyama, Japan), Furtwangen University (Germany) and Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His current research is focused on the development and analysis of BioMEMS devices, micro- and nanofluidic systems for medical applications, including modelling and design along with the development of micro- and nanofabrication processes. At the Centre for Energy Research he is the head of Microsystems Laboratory and BioMEMS Research Group and local coordinator of national and European projects (e.g. P3SENS, CAJAL4EU, INCITE, Moore4Medical) related to medical application of MEMS/NEMS devices. At the BME he lectures in micro- and nanotechnology, MEMS and BIOMEMS devices. He authored and co-authored ca. 60 journal papers and a book chapter, as well as >150 conference communications and holds two patents. He is TPC member of the conferences DTIP and Eurosensors, and was elected Eurosensors Fellow 2014 in Brescia, Italy. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the AENEAS (Association for European NanoElectronics ActivitieS).
