Dr. Selene Tognarelli is a PostDoc and Project Manager at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (SSSA), Pisa, Italy, under the mentoring of Prof. Arianna Menciassi within the Surgical Robotics and Allied Technologies area at The BioRobotics Institute where she works on both technical aspects and project management (she is/has been the Project manager of national and international projects). She obtained, all with honours: PhD in BioRobotics from SSSA (graduated in May 2011, admitted in January 2008 with scholarship) and BSc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Pisa (in April 2007). She spent a visiting research period of six months at the Nanorobotic Laboratory of the École Polytechnique de Montréal - Canada, and she attended an Executive Master on Project Management in 2013, and she has a long-lasting experience in project management.
She supervised several BSc and MSc Theses on bioengineering topics.
Her main research interests involve biomedical robotics, microsystem technology and material science, with a special attention to the mechatronic aspects of miniaturized robotic devices. She has a growing track record in biorobotics, and in this field she is co-authoring high-impact publications indexed. She has H-index 14 in Google Scholar and 11 in Scopus. She has one PCT application and one Italian patent applications. She regularly serves as a reviewer for international conferences in the field of bioengineering and biorobotics, and international scientific journals.
