The aim of the EndoRob project is to create a demonstrator for a novel setup, based on an existing small and lightweight robot platform adapted to that task. The resulting setup can be a very valuable alternative to existing robotic systems in neurosurgery, which are all based on voluminous serial kinematics and which require adaptation of both the OR setup and the clinical workflow. The project work is strongly driven by clinical aspects – the final setup will be validated in a real clinical scenario. With the support of DIH-HERO, we aim to show that the use of such a small robot is advantageous for workflow integration and accessibility to the surgical field and that the robot improves OR outcome and duration.
