Abstract

The ambition of the experiment is to proof the feasibility of a robotic assistance system for percutaneous, image-guided needle placement utilising a Multislice-CT as an imaging device. The major objective of the project is the preparation, commissioning, and end-user test of the first robotic demonstrator setup. With the Technology Demonstrator, we aim to show the first Multislice-CT based variant of such a system and proof its feasibility. Due to the lack of availability of CBCT-Systems as well as the superior image quality of Multislice-CT-Systems, a vast majority of percutaneous interventions in interventional Radiology are performed using Multislice-CT-Systems and can therefore not benefit from the benefits provided by the CBCT-version of the “guidoo” system.
