Standards and Best Practices for Certification

Description:

This session aims at sharing knowledge gained in DIH-HERO and its network about standards and regulations that are relevant to healthcare robotics innovators and best practice for software development in that field. Addressed topics will be the latest updates on the “medical devices regulation” (MDR), including new deadlines, the current situation of harmonized standards for medical devices, guidelines for medical devices including the latest draft of the machinery products regulation and medical software, and artificial intelligence as a disruptive technology applicable to medical software. A summary of the work done on standards and certification during the 4.5 years of the DIH-HERO project will be provided.

Speakers:

  • Ainara Garzo (TECNALIA)
  • Tamás Haidegger

Duration: 40 minutes

Deployment in the Clinical Setting

Description:

The current level of robotic technologies, especially the level of clinical need for improving healthcare and the need for the wide availability of health services far exceed the current status of deployment of robots in healthcare. To provide better insight into the deployment challenges, DIH-HERO approached healthcare professionals in different domains, expertise, and seniority levels. At the same time, DIH-HERO has supported 8 companies to deploy their robotic solution in 32 clinics across Europe. The workshop will present initial DIH-HERO findings about barriers to the deployment of robotics in healthcare and present the experience of the companies who are currently working on the deployment, hospitals that deploy robots and DIH-HERO innovation coaches who are supporting this process

Speakers:

  • Peter Wolf, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
  • Anke Mayfarth, Tediro GmbH, Germany
  • Carolina Malagelada, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Spain
  • Sergi Garcia Redondo, Badalona Serveis Assistencials, Spain
  • Kosta Jovanovic, University of Belgrade – School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia

Duration: 40 minutes
