Success Stories and Upcoming Funding opportunities
The deployment of robotic applications in healthcare-related settings is essential to bring new innovations to the market to the best benefit of the patient. The aim of the Innovation Coaching offered by the DIH-HERO network is to provide expertise and services to the SMEs in the European healthcare robotics sector, in order to support them to bring novel innovations to the market. During the workshop the DIH-HERO innovation coaches and innovators from the field will present their experiences regarding the challenges faced, the success stories achieved in innovation and matchmaking and the benefits of the Innovation Coaching during the execution of the various projects. In addition, an overview about the funding opportunities in Europe will be given during the session.

Standards and Best Practices for Certification
This session aims at sharing knowledge gained in DIH-HERO and its network about standards and regulations that are relevant to healthcare robotics innovators and best practice for software development in that field. Addressed topics will be the latest updates on the “medical devices regulation” (MDR), including new deadlines, the current situation of harmonized standards for medical devices, guidelines for medical devices including the latest draft of the machinery products regulation and medical software, and artificial intelligence as a disruptive technology applicable to medical software. A summary of the work done on standards and certification during the 4.5 years of the DIH-HERO project will be provided.
- Ainara Garzo (TECNALIA)
- Tamás Haidegger

Deployment in the Clinical Setting
The current level of robotic technologies, especially the level of clinical need for improving healthcare and the need for the wide availability of health services far exceed the current status of deployment of robots in healthcare. To provide better insight into the deployment challenges, DIH-HERO approached healthcare professionals in different domains, expertise, and seniority levels. At the same time, DIH-HERO has supported 8 companies to deploy their robotic solution in 32 clinics across Europe. The workshop will present initial DIH-HERO findings about barriers to the deployment of robotics in healthcare and present the experience of the companies who are currently working on the deployment, hospitals that deploy robots and DIH-HERO innovation coaches who are supporting this process
- Peter Wolf, ETH Zurich, Switzerland
- Anke Mayfarth, Tediro GmbH, Germany
- Carolina Malagelada, Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Spain
- Sergi Garcia Redondo, Badalona Serveis Assistencials, Spain
- Kosta Jovanovic, University of Belgrade – School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia
Duration: 40 minutes
Future prospects of the DIH-HERO Network
This session will present the information about the future plans of the DIH-HERO network and the services DIH-HERO will keep providing for the benefit of the European Healthcare Robotics ecosystem.
Collaboration opportunities will be presented and an open discussion will follow, aiming to collect feedback and expression of interest from the audience.
- Introduction with a general overview of the sustainability plans of DIH-HERO, Paola Roberta Boscolo, Italian Institute of Technology – IIT, Genoa
